Dear coffee lovers,
We can all agree that coffee is an energy-boosting elixir of happiness, which can also bring people together because the best conversations happen over coffee.
Coffee has also taken our hearts at Eduardo’s. From an iced coffee at the Beach Shack, a cold brew at Cabana, and to an oat milk cappuccino at Hideaway. They are definitely star favorites!
For us quality coffee is not just about the taste, it’s also about the experience. A well-brewed cup of coffee can awaken your senses, provide a moment of relaxation, and even inspire creativity.
Taste is not the only important aspect of coffee for us, we believe strongly in sourcing good coffee from farmers that embody quality and have sustainable growing practices. Which is why we are very grateful to have found a collaborator to help create our own Eduardo’s House Blend. That’s right – our coffee blend has a story of its own! That story can be best explained by Eduardo himself, so we sat down with him for a quick interview to talk about all things coffee.
How did Eduardo’s House Blend come about?
We are a company that is innovative and passionate about our contribution towards a more sustainable planet. In terms of business, Aruba’s an island where a lot is imported, including coffee. We decided we wanted to take an independent route in terms of the coffee we bring to the table, so we visited a source in Colombia – one of the top Arabica coffee-growing countries in the world. We wanted to experience the coffee from start to finish with our own eyes. After several conversations with our partner and many sessions of tasting and narrowing down, our ideal House Blend was born.
It sounds like your trip to Colombia was very special:
It sure was. Colombia is known for coffee plantations, so experiencing the region and the production was very special. We experienced the process from harvesting to roasting, to then packaging and brewing. Seeing this process upfront was remarkable. Unfortunately the Aruban weather doesn’t lean towards the production of coffee, but we can rest assured knowing that our beans are hand-selected from different small plantations in the cafetero region of Colombia.
What would you say makes the coffee at Eduardo’s stand out?
Craftsmanship. We train our baristas to capture freshness in a cup. It’s a morning routine for a lot of people and we’re providing energy and taste in a cup. At Eduardo’s we grind our beans on the spot using fresh beans. Not to mention the variety of milk options we have with many plant-based milk alternatives for conscious coffee lovers. And the best part is that our baristas understand each plant based milk as well as they do ‘regular’ milk. Almond milk is steamed differently than oat milk, for example. The attention to detail is always there. This can also be seen even by the latte art accompanying your cup. We envision our guests feeling spoiled with each sip of coffee they take.
That’s impressive! In terms of taste, what balance were you looking for when developing the Eduardo’s House Blend?
Coffee culture on Aruba is evolving. It was important for us to give our unique take on it and to add the Eduardo’s flair. That’s why went for a blend that was primarily soft, but with rough undertones and a fruity aftertaste.
That sounds refreshing and heartwarming! Now that you’ve mentioned culture; What would you say is Eduardo’s vision for the coffee culture on the island?
At Eduardo’s we wish to provide a product we’re proud of. That to us includes craftsmanship in coffee products and in coffee making. Aruba’s coffee culture has changed a lot, and as an established café on the island we’d like to be a pit stop of appreciation for coffee lovers. A good cup of coffee belongs on a table alongside your breakfast and after – or even during – your lunch and dinner. Ultimately, we want to provide good coffee to our customers, both in our restaurant but also in their homes.
After my conversation with Eduardo, I realized that a couple of things are for certain: One’s that coffee at Eduardo’s means elevating your coffee experience and discovering new flavors and aromas. I can personally co-sign on Eduardo’s comment that the baristas at Eduardo’s are passionate and committed to their craft, ensuring that every cup of coffee is brewed to perfection.
Whether you’re a cappuccino drinker or a latte enthusiast, or simply get excited about the thought of an aromatic americano, one thing’s for certain; at Eduardo’s we know a thing or two about coffee.
We look forward to sharing our passion for coffee with you on your next visit!
